I just bought a Ford Fusion less than 2 months ago and already the windshield is cracked, I didn’t think much about it until I noticed that my sister who has a Ford Expedition and a small ford pick up, that both have cracked windshields, So does ford use glass that sucks compared to other vehicles
All car makers have to meet Federal Standards for glass. Windsheilds are under Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 205 or FMVSS205.
Depending on where you live ie more gravel roads and colder weather mean more cracks.

I have a 1964 Ford Fairlane 500 2 door sedan. Only 24 thousand something made of this body style.
It is the same body as the thunderbolt. How does my car rate for rareness?
50 1966 Fairlane 500s with 427. There were only 50 or so, all white, with black BENCH seat interiors, all made in the Atlanta plant. That is one of them.

My 84 year-old grandfather is selling his home and antique cars and moving into a retirement home. The capital gain on the home is less than $40,000 and will qualify under the exemption. But he also plans to sell his antique cars, probably for a profit of about $20,000 more than he paid 15 years ago. Does he have to include this on his taxes. If so, what kind of expenses can be deducted from the capital gains on a car.
Are there any pro’s or con’s to selling them in the same year as he sells the house versus waiting until the next tax year?
Thank,
BK
Your grandfather is probably in a low tax bracket, and a very low capital gains bracket. If he is in a low bracket, probably better to sell this year. Taxes may go higher next year, not likely to go lower any time soon.

I have had my license for over a year now but ive just been driving around my parents cars. Its time for me to get my own because im going too be going off to college next fall. Are chevy cobalts good cars? I really want one and have had my eyes set on them for a while.
Not good cars from an overall reliability standpoint.
Chevy has never been up to the quality or reliability of Toyota and Honda in the compact car segment.
For 2011, Chevy has changed the name, the design and the engine of its compact car because of reliability and reputation problems tied to the Cobalt.
If you are looking at buying new, the Chevy Cruze is worth a look. However, it’s too early to know if the Cruze is a reliable vehicle.
If you have to buy a Domestic nameplate in this class, the Ford Focus is the best one you can buy.
If you are open to buying a foreign car, the Mazda 3, Hyundai Elantra, Honda Civic (or Fit) and Toyota Corolla will be your best options.

Hey, guys!
I’m asking for some recommendations. How to buy an auto repair manual using internet? Give me some advice where is a good website to do that.
The best way is to get an auto repair manual in this shop: http://seerch.com/category/1517/Auto-Repair-Manuals/ . It’s my favorite online shop.

I have a grabber blue 2010 Mustang GT and I got side swiped (hit and run)
I was wondering if the Ford dealers do good body shop work and will the paint match?
How long will it take for it to dry?
Thank You
Hey Itsme,
Ford body shops will have all the CORRECT parts and the MATCHING paint for all Ford vehicles…it will be all OEM stuff, not reproduction or knock off parts and paint. Their auto body repair personnel are just as qualified as the tech’s in an independent body shop. I would think you’re safe going to your dealer and having the work done there.

I have to 2-3 AA approved auto repair facilities but I could never find them good. They have suggested me something which was not bad at all. How has been your experience. Please share..
I work for AAA and just want to share some info about its Approved Auto Repair (AAR) program. It was created to address one of the most frequent consumer complaints in America – unsatisfactory automobile repairs. Since the program began in 1975, more than 8,000 automotive repair facilities have been approved in the United States and Canada.
AAA AAR facilities agree to provide customers with: a written estimate not to be exceeded by more than 10% without prior approval, a 12-month/12,000 mile parts and labor warranty, the return of old parts if desired, and the right to have AAA arbitrate any dispute between an AAA member and the facility. Many of them also offer a discount to AAA members.
If you are interested in locating an AAR facility, go to www.AAA.com/repair. If you have had an unsatisfactory experience at a AAA AAR facility you should contact your local AAA club to start the arbitration process.
You can find out more about AAR facilities, what they offer members, the accreditation process and more at http://bit.ly/9vn3A8.

What website is good for reviewing auto repair shops? I would like to check the reputation before getting repairs done.
If you can go to a AAA site they list approved mechanics in your area

me and my brother are buying our 1st cars. he bought a cobalt LT with his money, but i am having trouble finding something i like. what cars are comparable in price and preformance to a chevy cobalt LT?
Ford Focus, Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, VW Golf, Mazda 3, Hyundai Elantra, or a Kia Forte. personally, I’d get the Honda because of their reliability(although the interior is a little weird for my tastes).

I have a Ford 302 V8 engine in a old 77 Ford F100 custom that doesnt run anymore and the body is beat up, but I dont want a good engine to go to waste and I dont know what cars or trucks that the engine might fit since its the only thing that still works on the truck.
i agree. i remember seeing a efi 302 in a 59 edsel on ebay was a really well done conversion.
