I am interested in the chevy volt cars and need to know how much they cost?

I would also like informaion of the zenn, flybo, and leaf electric cars.

The Chevrolet Volt will cost between $37,000 and $42,000 (estimated price), but as stated before you will get Government rebates (I believe $7,500). It runs on electricity for 40 miles, and then will switch to a small gasoline powered engine/generator. So if you drive less than 40 miles a day, you won’t use any gasoline at all. The Volt has also been a concept for a few years now, and has lots of engineering in it. It isn’t a rushed job like the Nissan Leaf.

Not only is the Nissan Leaf ugly, but it was rushed into production (never a good thing) and will only drive about 100 miles on a charge. It will supposedly cost about $32,000 before any rebates. You will also have to install a Home Charging system (about $2,500 or more depending on how old your home is), and since the Leaf is a 100% electric car (does NOT run on Gasoline at all), you are running the risk of running out of energy and being stranded since recharging stations are not commonly available yet (but they are being built). Also, it will take about 20 hrs to fully charge a completely depleted Battery on the Nissan Leaf with a 110/120 V outlet.

The ZENN Electric car is a virtual unknown, only has a 35 mile range, and even though it will cost an estimated $13,000, it is small and looks like it was crudely built. The quality just isn’t there (you get what you pay for). It is about the size of a Smart Car in comparison, and has a 30hp electric motor, and only has a top speed of 25 miles an hour. It cannot be driven on the highway, or most common roads for that matter. Its like an electric golfcart, lol. Don’t waste your money on it.

The Flybo is a Chinese built copy of the Smart Car, but is Electric as well. It has a range of up to 100 miles, costs a little over $10,000, and has a top speed of 42 miles per hour so it is driveable on regular roads but will not be good for highway use.

Overall, the Chevrolet Volt is the clear winner. Yes it costs more, but it is the best looking, it is designed to be a daily driven car that produces zero emissions, it is getting great reviews, and it is designed to last and be reliable. Go with a Volt, you will not regret it.

Has anyone out there had and experience with a mobile auto repair company?

Just wondering if anyone out there has had any type of experience with those auto repair companies that come to your house to fix your car? Thanks

Mobil repair services are difficult to deal with in regard to the fact you have to have whats called a F number that is issued to a repair shop and unfortunately states do issue this number to anyone who doesn’t have a actual repair facility, so I would be a little leary about the service, but obviously you need some repair work done, well I have a suggestion for you. If you go to www.rugettingtheright.webs.com you will find a free service that once you input your vehicle info the service will find an absolutely lowest price and if you wish they can even set up all the stuff from getting your appointment, to even getting directions to the repair facility. remember to check out www.rugettingtherightprice.webs.com

will I learn motorcycle repair if I learn auto repair?

I would really like to learn to repair motorcycles…if I learn auto repair, will this help me to learn? what about small engine repair? I have been googling motorcycle repair, and there are no schools for it near me, and it seems like online classes are a waste of time for it.

Yes the basics or engine repair are the same regardless of what it’s in only the trim is different.I hold both an automotive ticket and a motorcycle ticket.I started out with motorcycles but got my auto ticket so I could eat regularly.
Here’s a free web site for basic motorcycle repair. The course is free and it’s a good place to start.

Are ford cars a good car too buy for 17 year olds first car?

Im 17 and i found a 1991 ford escort Gt and my step dad is a mechanic and he and his boss found the car and so he fixed up the car and wants to sell me the car for 350.00 which is a good price because he put all new everything on the car and it runs good just my dad hates fords and i want to know if this is the right choice for me.

OK, your step dad isn’t selling you that car. He’s giving it to you, with a nominal payment as an encouragement for you to care for the car and understand the value of money. 1) You’ll almost surely never get such a great price on a (probably lovingly refurbished) car again in your life, and 2) This isn’t just a gift car, it’s a bonding event with your step dad.

Be smart; take the car and thank the man for caring about you! If the car only lives another six months, it’ll be well worth it and "the right choice" for you.

ADDED:
Re-reading your Question, I’ve realized you might be worried about this car coming between you and your actual dad. Only you can make that determination. IMO, the argument that "the price was just too right" might defuse that problem.

California: What are the benefits of a car with an antique tag?

I have a car that is 25 years old to be exact. And I can register
for an antique tag.

Only benefit I know is that I do not need to pass smog check.
Can I do anything else with an antique tag?
Like if I register for an antique tag. May I swap motors and modify muffler and engine and not be hassle by the police? By that I mean legal for antique tagged Cars to do so.

I doubt that the police or DMV will bother you for that, but check with the insurance company; they may not allow mods under their policy. An antique tag usually lets you drive only in parades, exhibitions, etc. or to and from them, so check on that, too.

is it true that chevy cars can only be repaired in their service centres as many mechanics dont know repair it?

Well most people don’t have a code reader of their own so they have to go somewhere to get the codes read on the car. And if they modify it they have to get it tuned at a shop. But everything else can be done by you in your garage with actually very few tools. Granted if you are doing serious modifications you’ll need to send stuff to a machine shop. For general maintenance you can do that on your own.

A mechanic is no smarter than you they just do these jobs all the time. Also lots of shops don’t want to work on stuff they don’t know very well like import automatic transmissions. I don’t think a shop would last very long if it didn’t work on Chevrolet cars.

Was it wrong to send one of my "know it all " maintenance people to the automotive store for halogen refills?

for a burned out headlight?

these are trucks and they are built on a truck frame and they are not cars and you cannot compare these vehicles to a car ….. maybe you should go and drive a Land Rover and try to compare that to a Sub or Yukon …………..

List of all chevy cars with type of engine andoriginal prices?

All Chevy Cars starting from the beginning:
1839 Chevrolet Fulton Steamer with a 1500 cid Steam engine was $395 in U.S. Silver pieces
- models could be had with the 2000 cid steam engine

1874 Chevrolet Vega with a Pratt & Whitney R3350 Reciprocating Kerosene Engine $785 fob Detroit

1908 Chevrolet Citation with a General Electric Gas Turbine $9,195

1929 Chevrolet Camaro with the 426 cid Hemi head Inline 8 $250
and finally the penultimate

2003 Chevrolet Biscayne with the Vortec 409 and three speed column shift transmission for three
easy payments of $19.95.

As you can see prices spiked in the early 20th century but technology and volume have brought costs down.

Next question…
