“Afraid Ford don’t care about you. They want you to stay at home by yourself and eat worms.”

lol, priceless.

America always get …
America always get the short end of the stick when it comes to fords. Just look at the piece of garbage they are selling as the focus here. Now compare it to the European focus.

g9baracuta Says:

Did the fact the …
Did the fact the company was called DaimlerChrysler along with DaimlerBenz until they changed to just Daimler AG not give that away at any point? And maybe that they had Mercedes engines??? Chrysler was sold in 2007 to a private equity firm from New york.

jayzaro Says:

I didnt know that …
I didnt know that chrysler was in europe there going nowhere now though.

Yea 99% of kids go to school in a 7-seater car, If i cant fit 1 more kid in a car id want them to stay at home and eat worms, and I have 5 kids, 4 of which have to travel in my car with shields and crash helmets in case i crash. And yea i bought a brand new focus for my 5 kids too.

Wow Top gear have come on leaps and bounds over the years unlike the crap they talk here

i don’t get why …
i don’t get why more families don’t buy the focus. i’d sure rather have one than a huge minivan or suv. my uncle only has one kid, yet for no reason i can see, has an 8 seater suv. why? it’s not fun to drive, and wasteful.

mike63v8 Says:

For some reason …
For some reason Fords sold to the European market are substantially better made vehicles than the ones sold in North America. My aunt in Holland has a Focus and it is the best/most reliable car she has ever owned.

MaximusRelaximus Says:

I’m a little …
I’m a little surprised that Ford beat Toyota in the reliability ratings. I had a Tercel that was a great little solid car, great fuel economy, indestructible, and with the 5 speed, actually kind of fun to drive. (I could chirp second gear, yeah it was a beast :P). Also had an Escort that was…yeah, none of the above.

So the whole “American cars are unreliable” shtick is definitely outdated, but when camrys are made in america, and fords have euro & jap parts & are built in mexico, etc…?

MaximusRelaximus Says:

I’ll agree with the …
I’ll agree with the Supra, and add the RX-7 (though the rotary engine was far from durable), and the original Z car, the 240-Z. But with the rally cars, yes they deliver great performance and are technological marvels, but stylistically they’re totally uninspired, and the Mitsu’s, at least, are near the bottom of the reliability records, which was the original topic of debate. A perfect example of great performance, technology, and quality, yet mind-numbing blandness is the GTR. Just plain ugly

xylaphonemaster Says:

Don’t forget …
Don’t forget not-so-bland cars like the Toyota Supra, Mitsubish and Subaru’s rally derived road cars, and the numerous other sports cars their otherwise bland big automotive manufacturers produce.

MaximusRelaximus Says:

I don’t know, but …
I don’t know, but it sure is ugly. I’ll take the old RX7 any day.

RazedByWolvs Says:

The Mazda RX8 was …
The Mazda RX8 was designed in America.
so does that mean it’s not Japanese? :)
auto manufactures are so big there not really European,Japanese,American, There global.

yuna238 Says:

paintsniffer not …
paintsniffer not just that Ford Focus had reported numerous braking failures.

MaximusRelaximus Says:

first of all, i …
first of all, i never said it was “american;” that would be the post to which i replied. second, the ford’s european-market models are almost always different from their american-market models, even when they share a name.

PaintSniffer07 Says:

The old focus had …
The old focus had issues with it’s speedometer systems, which means if yours goes while on the road, it’s illegal to be driving it. But it’s not all bad, if it does go, your local ford dealer should be able to hook you up with a working one.

coolerdude44 Says:

the focus isn’t …
the focus isn’t american, it was built in belgium, designed in england, and primarily sold in the european market. the only thing american about it was the money to finance it’s development.

gibbsred07 Says:

Great video! …
Great video! Jeremy Clarkson is the absolute best!! I totally regret not buying a Focus hatch when I had the opportunity…I had many opportunities. My parents bought a 2007 Focus 5 door hatchback in August 2007 just as the 2008’s were starting to come out. They absolutely love it! Unfortunately Ford phased out the 3 and 5 door hatchbacks in the U.S. Fortunately though, the hatchback makes its return for the 2011 model year when the Focus will be all new. I will buy a new one then.

narutofan9285 Says:

Yeah, by Japanese, …
Yeah, by Japanese, I meant mostly Honda and Toyota. However, I have recently looked at the reliability of new Toyota cars and the overall reliability of Toyota is now worse than Ford. However, Ford cannot match the reliability of Honda. However, I do agree that the 90s and early 2000s Japanese cars were bland as .

TheFreewayWanderer Says:

lmao!!!!!
lmao!!!!!

MaximusRelaximus Says:

…oh yeah, and …
…oh yeah, and Suzuki is dead last in the reliability rankings, and they’ve historically been godawful reliability wise, so the whole “Japanese cars are reliable” Kool Aid is a ridiculous generalization based on a few excellent, albeit bland as cars, like the Accord and Camry.

MaximusRelaximus Says:

“one of few …
“one of few European/American cars that even come close to Japanese reliability”

Rubbish. This is a stereotype that’s been outdated for at least fifteen years. American cars are, and have been since the early to mid nineties, among the most reliable cars around. And not all Jap. cars ever WERE esp. reliable. Mazda and Mitsubishi were never better than average. In fact, Buick is now the most reliable brand, based on problems per 100 cars, for 3-yr.-old vehicles, dethroning Lexus. J.D. Powers
