Are Ford Focus and Ford Fiestas good cars?

Hi
I am buying a new car this summer and have £3000 can I buy the above car and are they any good. So will it last a long time and does it have few faults? Which one is better Ford Focus or the Ford Fiesta? Any suggestions…

Theres an important thing to remember here, none of us answering the question has to live with the car you buy so make the decision thats best for you. I have never driven a focus so won’t comment on it. I have had a fiesta that was virtually bomb proof, really reliable. And then I had a toyota which was a complete dog, which is the opposite to what many people on here are saying but it just shows that you can get good and bad in any make. Instead of asking us I would go and check out the What car website and compare a variety of cars within your price range.

If you want to buy new then they are a little more than that and if you are buying secondhand it may be worth having the motor checked out professionally before parting with your cash.

I would recommend a reliable Japanese car. I have been buying Nissan for years. My friend is a fan of Mazda, and my brother Toyota.

I wouldn’t go for either. If your looking for a new or used car, I would recommend going to this website first, it has reviews from the owners themselves on almost every car : http://www.carsurvey.org/

Hi mate,

As someone who has had both of the above cars I will be honest with you…they are crud mate.£3000 will buy you a nice decent car, like the Mazda 2 (or 3) Honda Civic (or Accord for something a bit bigger), or Toyota Yaris….don’t touch Ford or Vauxhall with barge poles mate, seriously!Once my shed of a Mondeo packed up on me (on the overtaking lane on the M6, great!) I bought a 10 year old Mazda 323F which lasted for over 5 yrs and I can honestly say that when I p/xd it the bodywork was perfect, I’d spent next to nothing on it, and it NEVER EVER DIDN’T START OR CONK OUT on me!!I then got a Mazda 6 which so far has been superbly reliable and hasn’t cost me anything in repairs…Ford Focus and Ford Fiesta=CRUD!

both have handling that only VW owners could dream of.

build quality is great, reliability is good.

people still have the notion that fords are rusty and breakdown. that may have been true in the 80’s but it no longer applys today.

you wont find one professional review that slates the focus. even jeremy clarkson owned one as a daily driver for years.

for £3000 you could get a nice focus with a 2.0 zetec, a nice mk5 fiesta zetec-s (my fave) or a earlier mk6 fiesta.

the diesel engines are grand, as are the zetecs/duratecs.

if buying a fez, avoid a 1.3 8v. they are dated engines.

as for fault, all cars have faults.

one more for the idiots above me: ford own 33% of mazda. the cars are built with the same pieces.
