HOT ROD TV: Boxcar 57

Its been fifty years since Chevrolet introduced the 1957 Bel Air which goes down in automotive history as the most important car of that year, examples are treasured to this day and the model may well be the most highly regarded car of the decade: a style and performance classic. Today you can get your very own, brand new 57 Chevy. Cars Inc. and Wheel to Wheel have teamed up to bring back this classic car loved by hot rodders the world over and Hot Rod TV gets an insiders perspective of the very first build of the Box Car 57.

Hi moo, yeah I realise that. Was just making a point that if everything on the car, including the body, was cast in 1997 then technically that’s a 1997 car that looks like a 1957 one, but is in fact brand new. Like a brand new Deuce body is not technically a 32 Ford, it just looks like one.

It’s a Chevy …
Nope.
It’s a Chevy that was ORIGINALLY designed in the ’50s, but was tweaked. [The body wasn't styled by chevy engineers in 1997.]

Okay so I can cope …
Okay so I can cope with 15 minutes of film stretched out to fill 23 minutes of air time with the same images shown 4 or 5 times but it’s a shame they didn’t go into any detail about the problem solving. How did they fix the header rubbing that bolt, what was the problem with the radiator?
I have an attention span longer than a goldfish’s so I know it’s the car’s 50th anniversary, you don’t need to keep reminding me. And if this car is all brand new then technically it’s a 1997 Chevy, not a 57

Hey, Hot Rod Magazine! I am typing to ask you 2 questions: 1. Do you think it is normal for a Hot Rod to have NOS tanks? 2.Which cars do you like out of the ’55s, ’56s, and ’57s?
