will I learn motorcycle repair if I learn auto repair?

I would really like to learn to repair motorcycles…if I learn auto repair, will this help me to learn? what about small engine repair? I have been googling motorcycle repair, and there are no schools for it near me, and it seems like online classes are a waste of time for it.

Yes the basics or engine repair are the same regardless of what it’s in only the trim is different.I hold both an automotive ticket and a motorcycle ticket.I started out with motorcycles but got my auto ticket so I could eat regularly.

Well i know for sure that if you have both experience in both fields it will help you have no problem aquireing a job..But if you learn auto repair first..it will most likely help you get familar with some parts and how it works so when you go to switch to motorcycles you’ll know the basics..And online classes are not recommended for this type of work you need hands on instructing this type of blue collar work requires that you see what your doing since after all you will be one day doing it..

no, they’re two seperate programs if you end up taking classes. however, if you learn some things about older cars then you’ll at least have a basic understanding of most motorcycles(except street bikes).

After taking an auto repair course, you will have enough mechanical knowledge to repair any motorcycle "with the aid" of a service manual.

YouTube has millions of instructional videos.

A lot of the videos are made by idiots, so only use them for basic knowledge.

Certainly small engine repair and auto mechanics will help you in repairing motorcycles.

However, if you wish to be a motorcycle mechanic, you will be far better off going to school for that.
