California: What are the benefits of a car with an antique tag?

I have a car that is 25 years old to be exact. And I can register
for an antique tag.

Only benefit I know is that I do not need to pass smog check.
Can I do anything else with an antique tag?
Like if I register for an antique tag. May I swap motors and modify muffler and engine and not be hassle by the police? By that I mean legal for antique tagged Cars to do so.

I doubt that the police or DMV will bother you for that, but check with the insurance company; they may not allow mods under their policy. An antique tag usually lets you drive only in parades, exhibitions, etc. or to and from them, so check on that, too.

In California a car has to be older than 1975 to be exempt from the smog check.
